Middle Kids released their latest full length Today We’re The Greatest at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Much like the climate the album was born into, the Australian trio’s sophomore effort is both vulnerable and hopeful. The record blends their warm indie-pop sound with shreddy guitar moments and interesting arrangements that feature real life sounds like birds chirping and the heartbeat of their young baby. The band’s quieter moments allow frontwoman Hannah Joy’s growth as a songwriter to take stage. As a whole, the body of work showcases Middle Kids’ maturity as a band.
