This week for What Where When-sday, we discuss the 55th Nashville Film Festival, which is one of the longest running in the country. It always focuses on films, on and about music. And this year, there’s a documentary about the struggles of independent music venues like Exit/In and how they fit into — and if they fit into — the corporatized musical landscape in Nashville. We’re joined by The Day the Music Stopped‘s director, Patrick Sheehan, and producer, Demetria Kalodimos.
AmericanaFest is happening throughout the week at various venues in Nashville. Additional event opportunities begin tonight with the legendary Herbie Hancock at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Also tonight and tomorrow, My Morning Jacket and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are at Ascend Amphitheater. On Friday, Mk.gee is at Marathon Music Works, and wrapping up the weekend, there’s Dayglow at the Ryman on Sunday. For more events, go to WNXP.org/events.
