This week for What Where When-sday, we discuss Charles “Wigg” Walker’s Soul Brunch at Acme Feed & Seed with co-owner Lauren Morales and drummer for the Nashville soul legend, Pete Abott. The building at 101 Broadway has served many tenants since 1890 — from Southern Soda Works to Tennessee Wholesale Drug Company and a few transfer and storage operations. In 2014, Tom Morales and his partners leased the building and turned it into a rare spot on Lower Broad that is inclusive of all music.
In addition, Acme Feed & Seed will host an Oscars watch party on Sunday, as the Belcourt Theatre and the Nashville Film Institute also host events surrounding the award ceremony.
Other event opportunities include Tim Gent’s The Port of Nashville Party at Blind Barber on Thursday. Check out coverage on the former WNXP Nashville Artist of the Month here. Madi Diaz performs her new album, Weird Faith, at Brooklyn Bowl on Friday. Check out a review of Diaz’s latest record here.
Also on Friday, Oh Boy Records TN to TX: The Road to Luck Reunion is at the Blue Room. Check out a live session with one of the artists, Tre Burt, performing at the same venue here. On Saturday night, Olivia Rodrigo brings her Grammy-nominated album, Guts, to Bridgestone Arena, and Nashville band Snooper is at Soft Junk in East Nashville. Their debut album Super Snooper was our WNXP Record of the Week back in August; you can check out the review here.
