For those familiar with Tré Burt, they’re likely to describe the Nashville musician as a folk singer. But Burt’s latest record Traffic Fiction (a tribute to his late grandfather) finds the artist getting back to his musical roots, but not roots music. Burt fell in love with artists like The Temptations, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke thanks, in large part, to his grandfather Tommy Burt. Tommy’s love of soul and rhythm and blues made young Burt fall in love with music, and his recent passing inspired not only the musical direction of Traffic Fiction, but his voice can be heard throughout the record.
Watch Burt showcase his new sound as he performs “Traffic Fiction,” “Santiago” and “Kids In Tha Yard” live at The Blue Room at Third Man Records.
