What Where When-sday: A Story to Tell with Mavis Staples

This week for What Where When-sday, we discuss A Story to Tell featuring legendary soul singer Mavis Staples. It takes place at the Factory in Franklin on Sunday night, where Staples will be joined by Tommy Sims and Tom Douglas. I spoke with Alma McLemore, president and director of the African American Heritage Society of Williamson County which the concert will benefit.

Additional live music opportunities this week include The Japanese House performing a sold-out show tonight at Marathon Music Works and WNXP Presents Yard Act at The Basement East on Thursday. Yard Act’s debut album, The Overload, was WNXP’s Top Album of 2022, and you can check out the review and interview here. Also, Celia caught up with the band at Primavera Sound Festival earlier this year, and you can check that out here.

Runner and Sun June perform live at The Blue Room on Friday. Felix Ames, who recently released his debut album, Jena, performs at The Eighth Room on Tuesday. Find more events happening this week below and anytime at wnxp.org/events.
