What Where When-sday With Clint Gray of Slim and Husky’s Discuss Unplugged Series – 03/02/22

Listen to a conversation with Co-Owner of Slim and Husky’s Clint Gray

Another edition of What Where When-sday powered by Do615, a rundown on what’s happening in Nashville this week.

Yola will perform two nights at the Ryman Auditorium on Thursday with Allison Russell and Friday with Devon Gilfillian. Also on Friday, Parquet Courts with Mdou Moctar at Cannery Ballroom. Adia Victoria will perform two nights at Oz Arts Nashville on Friday and Saturday with Tennessee Brew Works’ annual Crawfish Boil taking place over the weekend.

This Friday night at National Museum of African American Music, Slim & Husky’s presents the second installment of their Unplugged series highlighting local Black musicians from hip hop, R&B and alternative sounds. Co-Owner of Slim & Husky’s Clint Gray joined me to discuss how the idea for this series started, how they booked artists and the importance of this event to our community.

We wanted to create something that embodied who we are. A love for hip hop, R&B and growing up loving the arts and and our community. We just use pizza as our way to connect.

The new Unplugged Series is a vision of ours, because being from Nashville, the perception of Nashville from the outside looking in was always about Country music. No knock on Country, but we just didn’t grow up on it. Once we realized ‘Oh, this is what y’all think Nashville is like’, now let us show you the real Nashville.
