This week for What Where When-sday we are on location at Frankie J’s in Germantown talking Pride Guide with WPLN’s own Rachel Iacovone. She puts together this list and map every year for our sister station, and this year, there were more than 50 LGBT events in the month of June.
Music Citizens debuts on Thursday. WNXP and Nashville Public Radio announced a new podcast series about the people in the music industry who make music work with Episode 1 featuring The End’s owner/operator Bruce Fitzpatrick. WNXP is hosting a free launch party and concert at The End (2219 Elliston Place) on Friday, which happens to coincide with Fitzpatrick’s 81st birthday. The performers include acts he’s hosted at the venue from Jason & the Scorchers, who played their first-ever show on a bill Fitzpatrick booked in the ’80s; to Pujol, who has been a frequent performer at The End since the 2010s; and rising Nashville star Brennan Wedl.
Plus, WPLN’s daily show, This Is Nashville, is taking on a late-night feel this Thursday night at the Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music. The show team will be turning up the energy, embracing humor, and diving into exciting conversations in ways they can’t at noon — with guests like Grammy Award winner and Grand Ole Opry member Ashley McBryde. Find out more and get tickets at wpln.org/tinlive.
Other live music opportunities: WNXP has shows and events at the Blue Room all this week from music trivia, Rich Ruth, Packs and Yellow Days. You can check them out at WNXP.org/events.
