This is another edition of What Where When-sday, keeping you up to date with the happenings in Nashville this week. There is Caroline Polachek with Ethel Cain tonight at the Ryman, Heartless Bastards Saturday night at the Basement East and even more you can find down below.
We’ve also got our sights on two additional events taking place this weekend. First, Nashville Jazz Workshop’s Jazz in the Park. The free concert series will take place this Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. at Hadley Park featuring local jazz trumpet player Emmanuel Echem. Mary Grissm, Executive Director of the Nashville Jazz Workshop, joined me to talk about the event and the mission of the organization. Jazz In the Park this Friday at 5:30 p.m. The series will continue June 23 with Rod McGaha and July 14 with Cord Martin.
Closing out the weekend on Sunday night will be the band Wednesday at The Basement East. The Asheville group’s latest album Rat Saw God was our WNXP Record of the Week back in April, when our Midday Host Justin Barney had the chance to chat with lead singer Karly Hartzman about the inspiration behind the album title and what to expect at a Wednesday show. The band also stopped by our Sonic Cathedral when touring their 2020 record, Twin Plagues. Watch that session here.
