Texas indie-pop duo Hovvdy’s latest full length True Love showcases the power of minimalism. While many others in the indie vein are experimenting with complex soundscapes and dominant production, Will Taylor and Charlie Martin thrive in simplicity. This sonic approach (self-proclaimed “pillow core”) allows Taylor and Martin’s cooing, warbly vocals and biographical storytelling to take the forefront. The result is earnest and tender, like a warm day sitting on the front porch, dripped in pleasantry.
