New York City’s The Thing bring a gutsy, no-frills energy to the stage, continuing their rapid rise as one of the most exciting new voices in rock. The four-piece cut their teeth in Brooklyn’s DIY scene, crafting a sound influenced by decades of rock & roll lineage—from ’60s garage grit to psych-tinged distortion—filtered through a modern lens. With over 300 shows behind them, their live presence is as sharp as their chemistry, forged on the road and refined through pure volume. That vintage-meets-modern spirit carries into their aptly named third LP, The Thing, out this August.
Watch The Thing perform “Above Snakes,” “Dave’s TV” and “Can You Help Me?” live at WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral.
