Indie pop-R&B SoCal singer Remi Wolf was tapped to curate the “Insanely Fire 1970s Pool Party Superjam” at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this year, a fun-loving leadership role fitting for both her incredible talent and her network of fellow artists influenced by songs of that generation. Wolf was also set to play her own set the following afternoon.
When the established Middle Tennessee festival was cancelled on its second day due to nonstop rain and the resulting saturation of many campgrounds and the high-traffic performance area known as Centeroo, several artists scheduled to play on the farm were booked at available Nashville music venues over the weekend instead. Brooklyn Bowl announced and threw up ticket sales for Wolf’s star-studded cover songs evening in short order, and the show sold out quickly, too.
Check out photos from the spirited evening that featured Remi Wolf, her incredible band replete with a horn section plus an impressive array of guest vocalists on singalongs originally performed by the greats of classic rock, soul, funk and disco.
Nashville area locals including Hayley Williams of Paramore, rising star Medium Build and guitar virtuoso Grace Bowers took on collaborations with Wolf like Chaka Khan’s “Sweet Thing” (watch below), Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and David Bowie’s “Fame,’ respectively.
Here’s the setlist.
