Nashville Artist of the Month R.A.P. Ferreira once said, “The idea of genre isn’t useful to me anymore. I’m operating in a Black cultural, historical tradition spanning many vocal techniques, instruments, forms, electricities. I’m mastering time and space from our POV.” This is apparent in Ferreira’s latest full length 5 to the Eye With Stars. Whether it’s referencing poets that inspire him or blues and hip-hop artists before him, one thing is for sure: Ferreira is paving his own way without a traditional industry approach. His art speaks for itself.
