New Music Taste Test Recap Feb. 26, 2023

Thanks to all the members, listeners and new friends who packed Tennessee Brew Works on a Sunday afternoon to listen to music and share their opinions for the New Music Taste Test. As the name suggests, we play new tracks without saying the artists’ name and get real time feedback via an app and audience feedback. After the “score” is tallied, we reveal the name and the real fun starts. It’s crowd participation time, and everyone is encouraged to talk about why they loved or hated or gave it a meh.

The discussions were hilarious, insightful and, at times, VERY Nashville (the tone of mixes, the structure of songwriting and even mastering quality were thrown out as reasons for liking/disliking). We even ventured into a broader topic of how much emo (and what kind) we should play as well as some divisive but passionate support for hyperpop. Next time around we’re going to take some notes to “share with the class” because the comments were so spot on and at times, poetic. We should expect nothing less from the smartest music fans around.

We’ll do it again from 5-7pm, March 26 at Tennessee Brew Works taproom. Playlist below and a reminder that through the month of March TN Brew Works is donating $1 from every pint sold on Sundays to WNXP.
