This week, nearly half the show is dedicated to insightful interviews of two of our favorite artists by two of our favorite people. Weekend host and WNXP social media maven Emily Young caught up with our Record of the Week artist Katy Kirby about her debut Cool, Dry Place and found out what the Nashville artist was doing in Texas right now.
Mickey Parks zoomed with influential Australian duo Avalanches and delved into the process of their expansive feature-heavy new record including the story behind their collaboration with Johnny Marr. Â
We started the show with what is quickly becoming a tradition – a new pick from a relatively unknown artist that deserves a MUCH bigger audience. This week it’s Canadian duo Doohickey Cubicle, who, besides having a fantastic name, separate themselves from the bedroom/dream pop crowd by incorporating some Yacht Rock elements and a smooth sax riff to go along with shimmering, shoegazer guitars.
