Nick Carpenter of Medium Build recorded his new record, King of Having Fun, with his touring bandmates and friends right here in Nashville. That familiarity with the players, plus ample inspiration in the music of peers and legends, yielded Carpenter’s most introspective and raw Medium Build LP to date.

About this incredibly long mix he made WNXP as Nashville Artist of the Month for September, Carpenter said, “This was the reference playlist I shared with the band while we made King of Having Fun. It’s full of ’70s and ’80s bands making recordings together in a room. That was the big goal for this one. Real people playing music together. ‘6 Windows’ was the working title for the album in my head cuz this is my 6th album and there were 6 of us working on it everyday. Silly!!!”
