Haiva Ru, the musical moniker of the newly Nashville-based lyricist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Allie Merrill, blends indie-rock production with infectious hooks to create heart-thumping pop music that is as catchy as it is thoughtful. Her debut album Bloom Baby Bloom, released earlier this year, reflects on a period of tragedy and hardship and the eventual growth it led to. Throughout the 10-song collection, one thing remains constant: the sonic breeze that can only come from an artist with California roots.
Watch Haiva Ru perform stripped down versions of “Oh, But Lover,” “Wildflowers” and “Work It On Out” live from the Sonic Cathedral at WNXP Nashville.
