Chrysalis’ artist journey literally began with a dream. It contained the melody for what became their first song which in short order led to festival appearances, hundreds of thousands of streams and a sophomore album dog songs, out this month. Originally from the Boston area, Chrysalis decided to make the move to Music City late last year, came to our attention by their inclusion in SXSW and is now WNXP’s Nashville Artist of the Month for April.
You can check out the full band, live session from the Sonic Cathedral and the in-depth interview. When it came to the handpicked playlist, Chrysalis decided to go with tracks that had a direct impact on the new record.
“The songs on this playlist are the ones that influenced my creative process when making my album dog songs. Whether it be a mix reference, a little lick from a song that i put in my own, or instrumentation i really liked. i also added some of my besties/musical collaborators’ music from their solo projects, such as Dominic Caudill’s ‘small song’, preyhound’s ‘face and name’, and Entifan’s ‘Wet Paint’!”
