Chris Shiflett Teams Up with Sierra Hull for WNXP Live Session

Those familiar with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chris Shiflett’s music may be surprised to hear his latest solo project, but the famed guitarist (best-known for his work with Foo Fighters) says punk rock paved his path to discovering and writing Americana and alt-country music. While his latest singles “Long, Long Year” and “Born & Raised” are reminiscent of the Bakersfield sound, they were recorded in the heart of Music City with producer Vance Powell and feature an all-star cast of Nashville musicians like steel guitarist Luke Schneider, bassist Jack Lawrence, drummer Julian Dorio and keyboardist Mike Webb.

Shiflett recruited another notable Nashvillian, mandolin player Sierra Hull, for his WNXP live session. Watch the two perform Shiflett’s “Long, Long Year,” “Born & Raised” and “West Coast Sound” and cover the country classic “Truck Drivin’ Man” made popular by artists like Jimmy Martin and Buck Owens.
