Yard Act, the latest band to come out of the post-Brexit post-punk movement, is quickly establishing themselves as one of the best new bands out of the UK. The Leeds quartet’s state-of-the-nation debut The Overload addresses topics like social inequality and racism through raucous riffs and a bit of humor. Frontman James Smith’s agitated talk-sing delivery has garnered comparisons to bands like IDLES and Fontaines D.C., but his comical ad libs and unexpected sound effects prove that Yard Act has more to offer than what may be expected.
Watch Yard Act perform “Land of the Blind” from The Overload live from the Brudenell Social Club, a mainstay in the band’s relatively short history.
