What Where When-sday: The Sound of (Black) Music

This week for What Where When-sday, we discuss “The Sound of (Black) Music” with our special guests: co-director Shariffa Ali and producer Jono Gasparro. The musical is an Afrofuturist reimagining of the cult classic “The Sound of Music” through the lens of Black roots music. The production, which uses elements of jazz, gospel, blues, soul, funk and Afrobeat, comes to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center this week.

More highlights include singer/songwriter Miya Folick at the Blue Room tonight and legendary R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! Just Me & You tour stops by the Ryman. Also WNXP Presents Unknown Mortal Orchestra on Monday night at Brooklyn Bowl.
