This week for What Where When-sday our special guest is Travis Collinsworth, co-owner of The 5 Spot in East Nashville. The venue has been around since 2003. Collinsworth started as an employee for the original two owners before buying in with another staff member Todd Sherwood in 2006. The 5 Spot features a wide array of local artists and recurring events like Sunday Night Soul, Motown Monday, 80s Dance Party and Funky Good Time.
More highlights this week include a few WNXP Presents shows with Broken Social Scene hitting the stage at Brooklyn Bowl and Margaret Glaspy at The Blue Room. Also at the same venue, Nashville-based artist Becca Mancari will perform this Friday. Senior music writer Jewly Hight featured their latest album Left Hand as WNXP’s Record of the Week back in August.
Also, there’s a celebration of the late John Prine with You Got Gold starting on Saturday with a free backyard event followed by a trolley tour, Arnold’s pop-up, shows at The Basement East and Ryman Auditorium, and more. You can listen to A Radio Wake For John Prine hosted by Jason Moon Wilkins here. Find more events happening this week below and anytime at wnxp.org/events.
