Specialty nights are always fun. Whether it’s the music of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, 2000s hip hop, or Boot Scootin’ Boogie Nights. But what about for an artist with only one album?
Chappell Roan released her debut, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, back in September 2023. You’ve probably heard “HOT TO GO!,” “Red Wine Supernova,” and “Pink Pony Club” on WNXP and all over the internet. Just this week, Roan earned her first top 10 Billboard-charting track with “Good Luck, Babe!” Her career breakthrough has been fun to watch this year, especially if you are a longtime fan. WNXP’s resident Chappell Roan expert Carly Butler joins me to talk about Pink Pony Club: Chappell Roan Night at Brooklyn Bowl this Friday — and the impact her music has made on fans.
Other event opportunities begin Thursday night when the band Cola is at The Blue Room, with Nashville band The Sewing Club opening the show. On Saturday, Lake Street Dive brings their Good Together tour to Ascend Amphitheater. Enjoy some hip-hop at City Winery starting Monday with former Yo! MTV Raps co-host Ed Lover Presents the Live Mixtape Band: Nostalgic Journey Through 90s and 2000s hip hop and R&B. At the same venue Tuesday night, rapper Oddisee performs songs from his latest EP, And Yet Still.
