ROCKTOBER has commenced again with several same-night-show conundrums (note: I said “conundra” on the recording and my grammarian self hates me for it, but fine). Thursday features Remi Wolf at Brooklyn Bowl, Father John Misty at The Ryman, Finom at The Blue Room and Caroline Rose at Basement East — yikes, why can’t we be cloned? Is there still time?!
Come Saturday, though, beloved East Nashville institution The Lipstick Lounge celebrates its 20th anniversary with a massive block party. The restaurant and “bar for humans” co-owner Christa Suppan joined me to discuss their event, including hours of live music from LGBTQI+ artists, a drag brunch, a drag RACE in heels (😱) and more.
I’ve also revived a short clip of my discussion with Bobby Kabeya, who performs as Miloe, and will do so at Drkmttr on Sunday night. You can find Miloe’s Sonic Cathedral session here and get pumped for that club show.
