What Where When-sday – Gloom Girl MFG at 91 Day – 8/30/2023

On this week’s pre-holiday weekend What Where When-sday, we highlight a few live music events — including former Nashville Artist of the Month Bully‘s hometown show at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday, and legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill’s appearance at Ascend Amphitheater with Nashville Symphony on Tuesday.

But the main event is our inaugural 91 Day on Friday, when we hope to welcome those of you who love both listening and shopping local. 91 Day at The Blue Room will host Nashville artisans and vendors including Antiquated Vintage, Ya Dig Vintage, Nicole Atkins Art, Knockin Roots and Used Books by Swank. Food will be available from Chivanada and Black Box Ice Cream.

Our local live music bill at 91 Day, showcasing a diverse swath of Nashville artists, includes indie rock singer-songwriter Wilby; former Nashville Artist of the Month, the hip-hop collective Six One Trïbe; and fast-on-the-rise punk band Gloom Girl MFG. This quartet of Nashville transplants — Paige, Stephen, Ethan and Connor — joined me on Zoom recently to talk about their formation in 2021 and the ways they gel to make music that reflects “the state of the world.”

Hear and share clips from my interview with Gloom Girl MFG, and please make plans to join us Friday for the live music and community market at WNXP’s inaugural 91 Day! As always, you can find more local happenings at wnxp.org/events.
