Two special guests inject energy (and entice us to the weekend happenings) on this week’s What Where When-sday:
Ben Stix, owner of local vegan deli and purveyor of widely-distributed seitan products The BE-Hive, talks up their 3rd Annual Bar-BE-Cue gathering of Nashville’s plant-based community, featuring oodles of vegetarian restaurants at oneC1TY on Saturday, October 15.
Also on Saturday, Nashville-based NPR editor and cartoonist Malaka Gharib will appear at The Southern Festival of Books (her new graphic memoir is called It Won’t Always Be Like This). The next day, Gharib will lead a three-hour workshop at The Porch, and attendees will leave with two full works: a single, four-panel web comic and a longer, eight-panel comic for a graphic novel.
Naturally, the next few days also feature many (too many?!) choices for live music in Music City and its outskirts, like Calexico at The Caverns on Friday.
