Pride Month marches on and this weekend is a special annual celebration of queer joy at the Nashville Pride Festival and Parade downtown on Saturday and Sunday. Many local artists and DJs are performing over the two days, including WNXP favorite corook. WPLN’s Rachel Iacovone has your official Nashville Public Radio Pride Guide for events, including the Fest, happening this week and all month long in Middle Tennessee. They’re even mapped out!
Coinciding with Pride Fest, if you have the stamina for daytime hangs and nighttime boogie, is a double-dose of QDP, a monthly dance party series that will run two consecutive nights this weekend at Brooklyn Bowl, June 23 and 24. One of the founders of these celebrated gatherings, T. Minton, joined me for What Where When-sday to talk about the parties dubbed 2DP this weekend — their history, growth over 11 years, and QDP’s lasting virtues of bringing people together. Note: 2DP’s two-day pass for entry to both parties has sold out in advance. But at the time of publication, single-night tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday.
The long-awaited Re:Set concert series is also this weekend, over three nights in Centennial Park, featuring a stellar line-up of WNXP favorites such as headliners LCD Soundsystem, Steve Lacy and boygenius. (Single-day tickets are still on sale here.) Also this weekend, WNXP Presents Wavves and Cloud Nothings at Eastside Bowl, and Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher brings his High Flying Birds to Franklin’s First Bank Amphitheater, with both Garbage and Metric also on the bill.
We hope you have a wonderful Pride celebration this week, and stay safe and hydrated out there, whatever it is you get into. For more recommended regional happenings, see below and/or visit wnxp.org/events anytime.
