It’s been a big year for Jobi Riccio, and her musical journey is just beginning. After fellow Americana-adjacent artists like Erin Rae inspired her to move to Nashville, Riccio is experiencing the magic and community that only happens in Music City. The Colorado-bred singer, songwriter recently made her Newport Folk Festival debut where she was honored with the John Prine Songwriter Fellowship Award, and she will release her debut record Whiplash via Yep Roc Records this fall.
Blending country twang with indie production and exceptional lyricism, Riccio is an obvious standout in the traditional Americana landscape. At just 25 years old, her songwriting sensibilities and willingness to experiment with different genres showcase a maturity in her musicianship well beyond her years.
Watch Jobi Riccio perform the title track “Whiplash” plus “Lonely Tonight” and “Sweet” live at WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral.
