Another Emo Night Nashville is right around the corner (March 1 at Marathon Music Works) so I invited up to WNXP my friends Jonathan and Nate to help me host an Emo Love Songs show the day before Valentine’s Day. Nate plays bass in the official Emo Band that backs a variety of guest vocalists covering emo and pop-punk favorites at Emo Night events. He tells me they’ve rehearsed upwards 100 songs to meet the crowd where they are — that is, in their feelings. Also on-air, we heard the story of Jonathan’s proposal to girlfriend Brandee on a recent emo cruise.
Hear the whole show — the second in our “Friendly February” series of co-hosted Thematic Statics — and/or a playlist of individual tracks below! Go deep on emo shows from years past, too, like the brief oral history of the genre in 2023 and another banger hour in 2024. We thank local vinyl producers United Record Pressing for supporting this program on WNXP.
