In 2022, Salt Lake City-based indie rockers The Backseat Lovers released Waiting to Spill, the follow-up to to their 2019 breakout debut When We Were Friends. The 10-song collection showcases a maturity in the band’s sound that is rarely achieved in a sophomore effort. A coming-of-age album, Waiting to Spill covers everything from growing up to heartbreak and self discovery backed by intricate instrumental solos with a slowcore feel, a new approach for the foursome. The experimentation pays off and blends effortlessly with frontman Joshua Harmon’s emotive vocals pulling the listener into the passion of the songs.
