Songs from Concept Albums

Ahhhh, more audiophile nerdery riding high on WNXP! A concept album is loosely defined as “an album featuring a cycle of songs expressing a particular theme or idea.” Basically, concept albums find the band or artist artist intentionally telling a story over the course of a record, be it through the vessel of classic rock ‘n roll (a la The Who or Pink Floyd) or inventive 21st century hip-hop (Kendrick, Deltron 3030, Lupe). We loved your requests and fit a baker’s donzen into the hour-long Thematic Static show, featuring a cameo from Janelle Monae superfan, our excellent weekend host Jude Mason. But we tucked even more requests into the Spotify playlist you can stream at anytime, too.

Send requests for future themes on social media @WNXPNashville and/or call 615-320-9100 or visit wnxp.org/feedback to leave us a voice memo introducing your song!
