It’s no secret that the UK’s post-punk scene is having a global moment, but few are taking the unique approach to the anti-culture, agitated genre than Porridge Radio’s Dana Margolin. The cadence of her vocals and transitions from gentle whispers to guttural screams reflect the honesty and vulnerability in her lyrics. Porridge Radio’s third studio album, Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky, is a continuation of Margolin’s journal-esque songwriting style. Yet it showcases a softer, more exploratory sound for the band, leaning less on distortion and incorporating horns and sound effects not commonly associated with the genre.
Watch Porridge Radio perform “End Of Last Year,” “Jealousy” and “Back To The Radio” off Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder To The Sky live at WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral.
