Playlist: Conner Youngblood’s album inspiration

Johann Sebastian Bach, David Gray and Aphex Twin may not have much in common on paper, but they do serve a common identity in the sonic identity of Conner Youngblood’s new album Cascades, Cascading, Cascadingly. The WNXP Nashville Artist of the Month says this playlist is about the musicians, but also about the songs for themselves: “I had actually made this one a while back to share with the guy who mastered it and was going over a bunch of dynamic type things I liked about various song, so it’s a mix of songs that actually influenced me, but also some that I just liked how they sounded.”

Youngblood is a polyglot and included Danish, Russian, Spanish and Japanese into the making of his new album. On this playlist he also goes beyond the scope of the English language with Gorbachev era Russian rock band Kino and France’s 1980’s bossa nova export Antena. The playlist is as eclectic as Youngblood himself.
