Tis the season for artists of all sorts to take another thousand (or three) cracks at scoring a holiday classic with the usual Santa’s bag of mixed results. We’ve done our best to sort through the gifts – leaving out the ones we hope came with receipts – and spotlighting the songs worth keeping for years to come. We have lots of Nashville offerings from Devon Gilfillian, Veaux, Venus Hum, The Sewing Club and Rosie Thomas as well as contributions from L.A. to Austin, Atlanta to Auckland, London to Montreal. It’s Christmas all over…
But we start the show in three states at once. The now-Nashville based artist Michigander with a song about Montana. It’s his first-ever holiday song and it comes as the wonderfully joyous Jason Singer aka Michigander has dealt with an incredibly trying season for him and his family. Singer says this was written with difficulty in mind – “complicated feelings” associated with the holidays, touching “on the moments that can be a little sad or uncomfortable.”
