New Music Experience: January 13, 2023

LISTEN to the New Music Experience

It’s the first New Music Experience show of 2023!

This new year greeted us with a bumper crop of new releases, which has this edition of NME stuffed full and bursting at the seams with fantastic new music.

Tune in to check out the dystopian alt-pop of Margaret Sohn aka Miss Grit’s “Lain (Phone Clone),” the Rostam-assisted new track from Vagabon, a fresh cut from light-hearted Dutch indie-pop-bopper Benny Sings that features Remi Wolf, and the return of UK downtempo dance royalty Everything But The Girl.

Plus our weekday morning show host Celia Gregory talks with Weyes Blood about her new album and our Record of the Week, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow. Celia also chats with Nashville’s Margo Price about her new psychedelic country LP, Strays.

There’s also a live performance from WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral by Brighton, England DIY indie outfit, Porridge Radio, with an interview with our Music Director, Justin Barney.

Our Song of the Week this week is “Happenstance” by the Maryland-via-South Africa artist Shalom, produced by Ryan Hemsworth, and our Nashville Track of the Week is “Armani Suede” by Middle Tennessee mainstays, The Features.

A strong start, 2023! You’ve got us riled up and excited for all the new music that’s to come, and we’ve only just begun.
