Metric’s Stripped-Back Sonic Cathedral Performance

When reminiscing on the early ’00s indie music scene, Metric’s influence is undeniable. Carrying on the New Wave legacy, Emily Haines and company blended guitar-forward rock with modern electronic production that still feels as innovative as it did 20 years ago. Their recent eighth studio record Formentera reflects on the band’s decades long career through orchestral anthems with bright guitars and bursts of sonic surprises, a sound that has made the band Canadian indie rock icons.

Watch Metric perform stripped-down versions of “Dark Saturday,” “All Comes Crashing” and “Calculation Theme” live at WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral.
