Jalen Ngonda is making timeless music. With obvious nods to Motown and artists of the like, Ngonda’s melodies feel effortless, and his modern approach to the genre sounds fresh and innovative.
“To a stranger, I would say my music is soul/R&B, while trying to fit in The Beach Boys and The Beatles somewhere in between,” Ngonda said about his sound. Still, it’s only natural that his debut Come Around and Love Me found its home on the iconic Daptone label, fitting right in with their legendary soul roster.
