Five Questions For WNXP’s New Assistant Program Director Ayisha Jaffer

Ayisha Jaffer is the newest member of 91.ONE, WNXP. As the station’s Assistant Program Director, Ayisha works with Program Director Jason Moon Wilkins and the team, and she is also an on-air host. Get to know her.

1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

2. What made you want to work for WNXP?

It’s a huge opportunity to launch this type of station in a music city and special market, and I’m excited to add my library, flavor, and identity to the station.

3. What can listeners expect you to do at WNXP in the next year?

Listeners can expect to be more involved with the station as it is a platform for our community. I hope to bring in more opportunity for local artists and community leaders to be involved with the station and add some more sound and stories you may have not heard on the air.

4. a) Do you consider yourself to be a foodie? b) Any favorite Nashville restaurants so far? c) Any places on your “must try” list?

As I’ve only arrived about two weeks ago, I’ve unfortunately had limited time or local recommendation to try too much so I encourage our listeners to share their favorite spots and spaces with me on Twitter. I did, however, get a chance to go to Monell’s and that was a warm experience.

5. What do you like to do for fun outside the office?

I have a bit of a conservation and recreation background so you’ll find me in the outdoors hiking trails, mountains, kayaking or canoeing rivers and lakes, or trying to collaborate on a creative, artist projects of all kinds with different creators. I am also an avid road tripper!
