It’s hard to define the exact sound of Chicago trio Dehd. It’s a little garage rock meets surf rock meets pop punk. Suffice to say, it simply rocks. Audiences have come to expect instantly hooky songs from the three-piece, but their new album Poetry embraces more instrumental complexity and perfects the band’s raucous sound. The contrast of Emily Kempf and Jason Balla’s vocal stylings pair with unexpected perfection mimicking their harmonizing riffs. It’s clear Dehd have no fear in pushing past what is expected.
