We can safely say Cage the Elephant listen to WNXP. We fact checked this. Both Cage co-founder Brad Shultz and guitarist Nick Bockrath have confirmed that they are fans of their local public radio music station, and we think the playlist they pulled together as part of their run as Nashville Artist of the Month has a distinctly WNXP lean. Ok, so coincidence or not, the band’s handpicked playlist shows they really are loving a lot of what we’re loving right now – Fontaines D.C., Teezo Touchdown, Hinds, Gustaf, Suki Waterhouse – and they incorporate some local love a la Gloom Girl MFG, whose new EP Brad Shultz produced, and Sugadasiy who are playing WNXP’s 91 Day celebration the day before Cage the Elephant headline Ascend Amphitheater with playlist pick, and one of our most played artists, Bakar opening.
