WNXP’s Nashville Artist of the Month for May, BEAN., might be Music City’s vibiest band, even with only an EP and a handful of singles out. This playlist shows the evolution that a band this early in their career goes through.
“This playlist is our ‘all-time’ list of sorts, ranging from staples of our musical upbringings to current influences, as well as some friends in Nashville who greatly inspire us.”
The playlist starts in the dorm rooms on Belmont’s campus where Jake Robuck and Kobe Miyake met and bonded over their mutual love of The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix and Prince. As the playlist moves down, you hear the band develop rhythm and personality that they fold into their sound with tracks by Nourished By Time, Solange and Frank Ocean, ending with the important contemporaries which they are closest to like Mk.gee and Dijon.
