After years of turning punk shows into performance art, Nashville’s own Snooper are once again redefining what a live band can be by channeling that same energy into their new LP Worldwide, out now on Third Man Records. As our October Nashville Artist of the Month, the high-energy duo made us a playlist of the songs that keep their creative gears spinning. From the fast to the weird and fun, it’s a deeper look into the sounds fueling Snooper’s constant evolution. Find their commentary and listen to the playlist below.
Blair’s picks:
“Chores” – feeble little horse
Feeble Little Horse has been my most played band for the past two years. I mostly love the lyrics on this song. I love listening to Feeble Little Horse in the car, on a sunny day or a rainy day. They’re a great band out of Pittsburgh.
“Freak Eyes” – Sextile
Sextile makes the best music to listen to while at the gym or on a run! They get me so hype! Their music literally makes me jump…. I can’t help it! Want to get pumped up? Listen to Sextile!
“Canary Wharf drift” – Bassvictim
This song is my favorite song to listen to in the car with my girls when we’re going out. Friday night? I’m listening to Bassvictim!
“You Ruined Everything” – Fib
This was my song of summer! I am a huge Fib fan. They’re a current band making music out of Philly. The members of this band are also incredible visual artists. Check them out!
“Good Girl” – Jockstrap
The music video for Good Girl inspired the music video for “Worldwide” (the lead single from our new album). I think the lyrics really resonate with me. I often need to be reminded that “everything is good, girl!”
“spin” – Blue Smiley
There’s a sadness to this song that feels so comforting. A comforting sadness that feels happy almost! I love Blue Smiley, but this is definitely my favorite song. I could play it on repeat all day.
Connor’s picks:
“Pray To That” – Fat Dog
I saw Fat Dog at Wide Awake and instantly became a fan. An exciting take on post punk and incredible energy live.
“I JUS WAN 2” – X CLUB.
X Club are probably my most listened to DJ, especially while screen printing or packing merch orders. This is my favorite song off their most recent EP which RULES!
“Secrecy Is Incredibly Important To The Both Of Them” – Yves Tumor
Yves Tumor is one of the best current artists going IMO. A true blender of genres into something new and exciting, this song is the perfect example of that!
“Retiree” – Total Control
Total Control is one of my favorite bands of all time and Retiree is one of the best tracks from my favorite album, Henge Beat. Super fast and short, perfect!
“You Are Absurd” – Peace De Résistance
This is Mose Brown from Institute and Glue’s solo project. Weird psychedelic glam ala New York Dolls and Roxy Music. This is my favorite song from the album.
“Big Mess” – DEVO
Had to include this song as I’ve been getting into later era Devo lately. The aux percussion on this song was a huge influence on Pom Pom from our new album Worldwide.
“Cars Fo Women” – DJ Pirna
Honestly I can’t remember how I found this record but it’s a staple in my DJ sets and the entire record is a BANGER. Another influence of aux percussion on our new LP, you can probably figure out which song if you listen!
