A Good Day with Seratones at the Sonic Cathedral

Seratone’s third studio album Love & Algorhythms comes at a time when people need it most. Following the “unprecedented times” of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever-growing political divide throughout the U.S., the collection of protest-inspired songs covers topics like Black feminism, Afrofuturism and frontwoman A.J. Haynes’ work as a counselor at an abortion clinic in Louisiana. While the themes are heavy, the music is uplifting and the message is hopefully optimistic. Packaged in gospel influenced Neo-soul grooves, Haynes says, “This is a protest album built on the form of protest I’m most interested in at this moment: getting present and sitting through difficult things with abundant joy.”

Watch Seratones perform “Good Day,” “Pleasure” and “Two of a Kind” off Love & Algorhythms live at WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral.
