Baby Wave announce signing to Saddle Creek with ode to “Nashville’s ever-changing DIY scene”

Nashville’s banner indie year continues with the announcement of local favorites Baby Wave signing to the legendary Saddle Creek label. Details on their debut for the Omaha-based institution aren’t set yet but they dropped a new song.

Lead singer book NOT brooke (who released an excellent art-pop record earlier this year) says it’s “an ode to the ever-changing Nashville DIY scene.” Brooke says while “every scene is destined to bloom and fizzle” it’s important to “honor that cycle for what it is.” Multi-intrumentalist Gardner Gottsegen says, for him, the “meaning keeps shifting. I used to think it was about me, now I’m pretty sure it’s about everyone else.”

Baby Wave have been a fixture in Nashville’s DIY and indie scene over the last few years from house parties to opening for Hotline TNT, Annie Dirusso and feeble little horse, whose Sebastian Kinsler produced the new song. “The Scene is Changing” rides a dynamic wave of crashing guitars and Breeders-like breakdowns and fits into a series of excellent shoegaze adjacent releases coming from Nashville in the last year including Total Wife, Bleary, Hannah Cole, mercury, Melaina Kol and more.

While the band don’t have a Nashville show announced for the fall, they will be on the road Fcukers and Swapmeet.
