What Where When-sday: Nashville Wellness Fest & Touched by Sun Fest

This week on What Where When-sday, we feature two events with a focus on wellness. The Nashville Wellness Fest takes place at the Expo Hall 3 inside the Nashville Fairground this Saturday (May 30) and Touched by Sun Fest is this Sunday (May 31) with another event on June 7 at Music City Work Club.

The Nashville Wellness Fest, which is in its seventh year, started pre-COVID when organizer Paul Rowney was publishing a health and wellness magazine in Nashville and ran the event alongside it. Once COVID came along the magazine ended, however, the show continued.

”There’s about 130 health and wellness vendors of all shapes and sizes,” Rowney said. “A lot of functional, holistic and alternative therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, to dentists and the more traditional stuff…here’s a huge range. But on top of that, we organize free yoga sessions that people can just turn up to with their own mats. We have some therapy demonstrations, so people can actually get involved in watching or we have an acupuncture demonstration as well. These are all free once you’ve paid to get in. There’s also free food sampling where various people come along, local cooks and chefs, and hand out samples of their food. So there’s quite a lot to see and do. It’s not just vendors. There’s all these other activities as well.”

Also next door Rowney is organizing the second Books, Authors, and Publishers Fair, featuring about 65 local and regional authors, all with their own tables and books and activities for kids.

Nashville artist Crystal Rose started Touched By Sun, which celebrates its third year in 2026, because she wanted to highlight the brilliance and the diversity of Black women in music across genres. She says this year, she wanted to expand the vision and include not just the people that are creating the music, but the wellness of the artist and pairing live musical elements with somatic healing practices and art.

”I wanted to reimagine what wellness could look like,” Rose said. “I feel like all of these things can live together for our well-being. We did a pop-up with the Nashville Black Wellness Collective for their very first sunset yoga of the season, and we provided the musicians for that.  Overall, I just want to highlight diversity and artistry here in Nashville. I think that sometimes we can be a little afraid to do that here. I want to show people how beautiful it can be when we bring different voices and backgrounds together. The mission is for musicians and artists to have a moment to restore their mind, body and soul.  It’s open to the community at-large, but I think it’s important to just value the artists that are the backbone of this city.”

Some of the Nashville artists involved will be  Milly Roze leading sound bath and performing. Amber Woodhouse will be involved with Never Sent, where people go up and share anything they’ve never sent, read out loud or just said out loud.

Other happenings include, starting tonight (May 27), R&Babu is at Cafe Babu and Bleary performs at The Blue Room. At the same venue Friday (May 29) Nashville artist Caroline Carter holds an album release show and WNXP Presents Echo & the Bunnymen at Brooklyn Bowl. On Saturday (May 30) Celebrate Music City is at Vinyl Tap and Escential is at the Blue Room. Wrapping up this week’s listings is Tuesday (June 2) with the WNXP Happy Hour Takeover of Coral Club with a special edition of Soulphonic Sounds from 5 to 7 p.m.
