Once again working with her partner and collaborator Sam Evian at their recording studio Flying Cloud\, Hannah Cohen’s fourth full-length album Earthstar Mountain\, is a keepsake of Cohen’s time in the Catskills\, built over the course of 2020-2024\, as blurred\, shimmering memories come into focus to produce a collage of echoes and sonic souvenirs. Featuring contributions from Sufjan Stevens\, Clairo\, Sean Mullins\, Liam Kazar\, Oliver Hill and more\, Earthstar Mountain is a love letter to the Catskills and in the interconnectedness of all things: in her past\, present\, future and alternative selves\, in her friends––here and gone––and in the mountain that peers through her windows.

DESCRIPTION:Folk music has a bad habit of being presented as a deathly serious concern. It’s something you cry to\, it’s overly sacred\, it’s solemnly considered by critic-historians. But Folk Bitch Trio\, former high school friends Heide Peverelle (they/them)\, Jeanie Pilkington (she/her) and Gracie Sinclair (she/her)\, have a shared sense of humour that is embedded deep in their music\, and that sets it alight\, safe from the self-serious traps of the genre. \nNow Would Be A Good Time\, their debut album\, tells vivid\, visceral stories\, and is funny and darkly ironic in the manner of writers like Mary Gaitskill or Otessa Moshfegh. Their music sounds familiar\, but the songs are modern\, youthful\, singing acutely through dissociative daydreams and galling breakups\, sexual fantasies and media overload\, all the petty resentments and minor humiliations of being in your early twenties in the 2020s.

DESCRIPTION:The critically acclaimed West Coast-based experimental hip-hop trio\, “clipping” is fronted by Tony and Grammy winning actor\, rapper and writer\, Daveed Diggs along with producers Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson. They initially rose to prominence with their debut album MIDCITY and follow up\, CLPPNG. In 2016 they released their opus\, SPLENDOR & MISERY\, a science fiction concept album that garnered international critical acclaim\, including a Hugo Award nomination for Best Dramatic Presentation. This was only the second time ever a music album was nominated for a Hugo Award\, putting them up against the likes of GAME OF THRONES and BLACK MIRROR. Their follow up\, THE DEEP\, garnered similar attention including another Hugo Award nomination as well as influencing a Simon & Schuster published novel of the same name. Most recently the band diverted from their sci-fi storytelling and released a set of horror-based concept albums\, THERE EXISTED AN ADDITION TO BLOOD and VISIONS OF BODIES BEING BURNED. Line of Best Fit’s Jack Bray hailed it as “sonically intriguing” and “another successful experiment for the group and one of the eeriest examples of modern hip- hop to date.”
